Don't even front, you know exactly what I'm talking about. There are more kinds of hot sauce than you've ever thought possible. Two of my favorites are Pickapeppa from Jamaica (not very hot, deep burgundy with almost a raisin flavor), and Dave's Insanity sauce.
WARNING - Dave's Insanity Sauce is extremely potent. Ingesting too much will cause you internal issues, not to mention a few external ones. Ask my husband how we know this.
For all it's heat, Dave's Insanity has a great flavor: it's just hard to keep your taste buds in place to experience it. We keep a bottle in the fridge and use a few drops in chili and spaghetti sauce. I'm pretty sure we've had that same bottle as long as we've been together. If you'd like to try the Dave's flavor without the possibility of chemical burns to your esophagus, consider dialing in your heat level with the latest in hot sauce technology.
Dave’s Adjustable Hot Sauce: Palettes AfireA love of gadgetry in addition to an addiction for capsaicin (a colorless compound made of hot peppers) has resulted in the invention of Dave’s Adjustable Hot Sauce. The collar on the neck of this potentially palette-detonating bottle of Adjustable Hot Sauce has two chambers, which adjust the balance between the two salsas found within.
Yes, I know capsaicin is made from hot peppers, but bad copy aside this is a pretty ingenious little invention. Unless you dial it in too hot, in which case don't say I didn't warn you.
